It's a practical, everyday metal with a warm colour that people enjoy collecting and gifting. It's also a low-cost way to find out whether you like holding physical metal before you consider silver or gold. Orders ship with fully insured, discreet, tracked delivery across New Zealand.
Rounds are coin-shaped pieces from private mints, usually one ounce. They aren't legal tender, and their designs make them popular with collectors.
Bars come in sizes from one ounce to a kilogram and stack neatly, which suits buyers building up a larger amount.
Coins are less common in copper than bars and rounds.
Whichever you choose, buying in tubes or boxes brings the cost per piece down.
Copper has a spot price too, but an ounce of it is worth very little. So while our gold, silver and platinum carry live spot-linked pricing, with copper most of what you pay is premium: minting, packaging, freight and our margin.
Copper isn't exempt from GST in New Zealand the way investment-grade gold and silver are, so GST applies and is included in our prices.
Yes. Copper isn't one of the metals New Zealand exempts from GST, so GST applies to copper bars, rounds and coins, and it's included in the prices you see.
Copper is worth so little per ounce that the costs of minting, packaging and shipping each piece make up most of the price. That's normal for copper bullion.
Yes. Copper naturally darkens and can develop a patina when exposed to air and moisture. It doesn't change the weight or purity, and storing pieces in capsules or sealed bags somewhere dry slows it down. Some collectors like the aged look, while others prefer to keep pieces bright.
Our buy-back service, opening soon, focuses on gold and silver. Copper has a limited resale market, so it's best bought to keep, collect or give rather than to sell on.
